flash in i.e. & laptops get lowjack

When I launched To Hell With Straight Hair last week, my client had told me that in her browser, Internet Explorer (aka WORST BROWSER EVER), there was some funky box showing up around the Flash animation on the homepage, asking her to activate it or something. My being on a mac (yay) and being too lazy to power up my PC, I wasn’t sure what she was talking about, but it didn’t sound good and we agreed to add finding a fix for it to the to-do list.

Thankfully, in a recent Flash Goddess newsletter, they passed on a timely link to Adobe’s article on ActiveX in i.e. and their javascript workaround to this annoying issue. Perfect! It was just what I needed and now it works on her browser w/ no problems. yay! Now I have to think about all the other sites I have done and/or maintain that also need this little fix implemented. grrr… die Internet Explorer, die!

Let me segue into reminding you all, particularly you PC users, that this would be a GREAT time to switch to Firefox!

Get Firefox!
I also posted a rant on this last year, if you wanna read more.
