laptop bag

Ok, I don’t have time to shop for this right now, but in the next 24 hours I’m going to need to buy a laptop bag for my shiny new baby.

Since I’ve never had a laptop, I’ve never been mobile!! So the idea of it just makes me squeel with delight… and getting a cool (not to mention protective and practical) laptop bag is a really exciting part of it all.

I’ve been collecting some links & ideas over the last couple weeks. Take a look & lemme know whatcha think.

Note: I’m mostly only linking to those that will fit my 15″

Style maven’s feedback welcome – as well as suggestions from other laptop owners (have you carried one for years?), you probably have feedback on style / comfort / or links to other places I should look, etc.

Acme is the cutest but you can’t carry many papers/accessories with you. I have a bag from inCase but when I flew to Florida with a lot of paperwork, I had to take my bf’s laptop bag–ugly, but carries a whole lot more.

    Hi Lan! :)

Ya, Acme is a cute one huh? I suppose I should list what I need space for ideally.

See, I don’t need to take papers/files, etc with me usually. So really there’s two options here. Have a bag that *just* holds my laptop and then carry another bag with all my other stuff. OR have a bag that carries it all in one. (probably most ideal??)

Especially for SXSW (austin trip next week) I’ll probably only want to lug one bag around huh?

Lemme just list what else might be accompanying me on a daily basis:
    - cell phone
    - sketchbook (small one maybe?) & pens
    - lipstuff (i never leave home w/o it!)
    - wallet/biz cards

hmm, I feel like I’m missing something, but that might be it!

I’m leaning towards a couple… Thanks for your feedback!

you can never have too many bags. that’s why i got the timbuk2 padded laptop insert – then the laptop can get carried inside whatever larger bag i need for the occasion. quite modular & versatile. plus they carry them at r.e.i., so if you have a yearly dividend that helps plus you can get 20% off.

congratulations for making the switch to the computers that the smart 3% of the population use. heh.

I’ve had my sportfolio for a few months and really love it. It’s really small – good for hauling back and forth. I can put it in my old computer backpack for long-distance or overnight trips.

PS: plus I got my Sportfolio for $27.00 bucks. price was an issue for me….. Great deal for the $$.

I’m a fan of the Brenthaven bags. Pricey, but they’re durable. And they’re made for the Powerbook!

They sell them at the Apple Store (now open in SF on Stockton & Market), in case you want to try it.

I can’t believe that no one made a 15″ joke of some sort. What’s wrong with you people? Am I the only person with his mind in the gutter? I know Willo’s right her in the gutter with me, so come one now, let’s make her proud.
