god, i love my mac
I just LOVE all the little applications made for the mac. And to know that they’re not going to totally screw with your registry or install a bunch of spyware is just awesome!!!
I just installed Safari Sorter to alphabatize my bookmarks in Safari. But was also told about Firefox’s cool extentions, namely the Radial Context.
And then I started thinking – Why do I use Safari primarily when there’s a few key things (like blogging, uploading photos, etc) that I *have* to use Firefox for?
(p.s. if you’re on a PC, you can use Firefox too – in fact you SHOULD!! Download it here.)
So I got to thinking, well – what do I like about Safari that I think I don’t have in Firefox, cuz I’ll bet with all these fancy extentions, I can get anything I want! And one thing was I just didn’t realize I could make folders for the Bookmark’s Bar similar to Safari. That’s huge!! And I wanted a quick way to get all my Safari bookmarks over to Firefox – and huzzah! There’s *of course* an app created for that, too: Safari Bookmark Exporter
Other cool Firefox Extentions are: TinyUrl Creator, Copy Image and more… do you have a favorite?
What I would still like to do is have the great cmd+shift+arrow (like safari) to get through my tabs – how do I do that? AH HA! thanks to eric: firefox: command+1,2,3,etc. cycles through the tabs
::::
update: hmm, radial context doesn’t seem to be working for me, nor is copy image – are those pc only?

So, I got stoked by a friend of mine; he sold me his Powerbook G3 laptop for 200 bucks! Pretty sweet for a guy who’s never used a mac before. He found it in his closet, it’s like 3 years old and the battery works great. They’re going for $400 – $500 bucks on ebay right now. So, I’m thinking of upgrading the h.d., memory and throwing a wireless card in it and be done.
But, after only one day of tweaking around I’m now just a credit-card purchase away from not doing any upgrades to this old thing and getting a new powerbook. so, I’ll be looking forward to more of your little app recomendations. Maybe once you amass enough links you could throw them on the side there next to your shiny new calander!
awesome!!!!!
yes, a new one would be pretty sweeeet. :) that’s so rad you’re possibly switching. it’s cool to be bi-platform, baby!
oh & p.s. yes, i do plan to do some sort of “so you just switched” type of list. my friend sarah AND my friend cody just got on macs… so my brain’s already been turning about this list!
This is so weird. Just minutes ago I was thinking about some of the points you make about Safari/Firefox and then I read your post…
BTW, Gmail worked horrible for me with Safari and it’s flawless with Firefox.
Speaking of little mac apps, have you tried Konfabulator and all of its associated goodness? Love the little java apps — especially the one that fetches the album cover of whatever song you’re listening to in iTunes and displays it on your desktop…
you should change your fireworks to firefox its a bit missleading esecially if you are doinga google search for fireworks extensions
:\
e
oh woops – i mix those two up every once and awhile.. i’ve fixed it. thanks and good luck on your search.
Safari is superior to firefox if for no other reason than it’s STABLE doesn’t crash like firefox, the firefox extensions although eye candy nice to play with its not worth the lack of instablity, apple has always ruled in the area of stability
ya, I’ve actually gone back to using Safari!
Firefox is mostly instable because of all of the extentions, but also note that most people are willingly using their beta releases, so they’re bound to be a tad buggy.
