love / hate / can’t wait

I finished watching the last season of Six Feet Under last weekend and LOVED it! I’m sad to know it’s over forever. But next up I’m hoping to fall in love with Deadwood, Carnival or Battlestar Galactica. (thanks to my awesome friend Mario!)

I watched Match Point and hated it. I had heard some people loved it & others didn’t… and I was definitely the latter. I thought it was such an unoriginal plot line, and I actually fast forwarded through a lot of the end feeling like it was just simply wasting my time.

I currently have: How to Draw a Bunny, Jarhead & Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Tell Me. Not sure when I’ll get around to watching them, but pretty much looking forward to all three.

Oh! I also watched the season finale’s for my favorite shows: LOST, Grey’s Anatomy, E.R., Will & Grace, and Love Monkey (I think that was the last one, right?) and *loved* them all! Pretty much all of them delivered a serious OMG! I enjoyed chatting w/ Misty about LOST lastnight. Misty summed it up well by saying it answered so many questions, but completely opened up soo many new ones! WOW. Hmm, maybe I’ll start getting around to my Netflix’s after all, considering it’s just reruns all summer.

I want to see some movies at the theatre as well… in addition to the IMAX ones I posted about, I’m really looking forward to seeing:

I probably won’t make it to even 1/2 of those in the theatres, not to mention there’s probably a ton more good’ns coming out that I don’t even know about because I don’t watch TV or go enough to see previews… but I love the idea of seeing movies. To me it’s the ultimate way to relax and do nothing. Which I don’t get to do very often at all.

OOH! While looking at the Apple Trailers site I just spotted a few more:

  • Peaceful Warrior – holy shit, they’re making a movie of the book! awesome! I read that YEARS ago (high school I think!) and loved it. Later, I got to meet Dan Millman when I was doing a lot of work in that area as an Events Coordinator. My former life. :) During that time (my early 20’s) I also did a lot of work with Shakti Gawain. Anyway – very cool… I’ll see this movie for sure. If you haven’t read the book yet, buy it now and read it before you go see the movie.
  • Devil Wears Prada – again I read this book! It was a great fun little read while I was on that cruise in the Bahamas 2 years ago.

What movies have you seen lately that you love? What are you looking forward to seeing? What should I not miss? :)

Saw x-men and it was awesome!!! Some critics said it sucked, but I doubt they were real X-men fans. It was everything I wanted it to be, except I wanted to go for another hour.

I can’t wait for Cars and Superman!! Let me know and I’ll check out any of those flicks with you, even X-men 3. It gives me a good reason to see it again! I also want to see Hard Candy and The Omen.

Oh hey, I just got OZ too. Let me know if you want that too. I think we both have way too much to watch…. It’s making me feel like I need to go exercise.

ooh, Hard Candy DOES look good. The Omen on the other hand scares me too much I think. haha. I can be a baby about scary movies.

No interest in OZ. Thanks again for your help w/ the DVD stuff lastnight! xo

p.s. I also wanna see Little Miss Sunshine

  3. Joe says:

The problem with X-Men (this new one) is the bad dialogue (esp. the lines of Halle Berry). Maybe once you see it, you know what I mean ;)

    TV:
Someone once told me that “Battle Star Galactica is the best thing on TV”. I’m not sure if I totally agree with that statement, however I can say it’s beyond what I ever expected a re-hash show to be. Tip- NetFlix the 4 part mini series to test the water, if it doesn’t hook you then you’re flat-out not going to like the rest.

    MOVIES:
    X-Men 3-
This movie was very sad, probably the most remarkable let-down I’ve ever experienced in a summer blockbuster. The reports from last fall had already said it was going to be atrocious, but early reports from this year said it had been over-produced to eventually be bearable. Fan of the original two movies? Then you’ll be very disappointed, but still needs to be seen… it’s for Netflix, not big screen.

    Da Vinci Code-
I’d also wait for this one. It just didn’t kickass for the big-screen.

Ya, I’m stoked to see Battle Star Galactica, as I heard the same sentiments. I think I’ll be into it.

X-Men, I heard Halle was even trying to be more faithful to the comic book character! Anyway, I’m sure it’s entertaining… I wanna check it out.

Roger that on DaVinci Code… thx. I’ll wait for rental on that.

  6. Brian says:

Battlestar Galactica is a fantastic show. I’m frickin’ hooked on it. I have the DVDs of season 1 and 2. Season 1 is superb. Season 2 is great but it’s got some misses.

If you want to check em out without stickin’em in your queue, let me know and I’ll drop them off.

I liked Xmen III. Sure it’s not as good as the first two, but it holds it’s own against this years flicks so far. The dialogue is not as bad as all that, but there are some story elements that make you go, wtf?

It’s a decent third entry that I think doesn’t destroy the series, like say the Phantom Menace or Batman and Robin did to those franchises. But there are issues with it.

And DaVinci is def a netflix’r

I def want to see Art School Confidential, Nacho Libre, and Cars. I don’t think School of Rock had any redeeming qualities at all except for Jack Black.

He’s great but he’s been woefully miscast. You’d think a guy like him perfect for School of Rock…..and he was. But it didn’t do a thing for me.

    And Inconvenient Truth looks great.

  7. Joe says:

I’d also recommend Ice Age: The Meltdown.

For rentals, “Raising Victor Vargas” is CLASSIC.

  8. Mario says:

Little Miss Sunshine looks funny in a dysfunctional family kinda way. The omen scares ya? Maybe I’ll ask you’ve had a drink or two. haha

My guess in the shoe shot would be Misty (black), Willo (red), Ali (blue)…. Do I win a prize?

As far as X-Men 3 goes I liked it too. It’s a super hero movie what do you want? It’s not like it’s some heavy drama. And Ice age 2 is not even worth netflixing in my opinion. If you’ve seen Ice age 1 your good.

  9. willo says:

I will totally see Ice Age! I loved 1 and I can guarantee I won’t be such a movie snob that I can’t find some love for 2, as well. :p

    Yes, Mario – you win!
