book worm: an archive

UPDATE: Scroll to the bottom of this post to see the books I’m currently reading.

When I originally posted this in August, 2006, I was reading:

And before that, in order for the most part:

Probably forgot a few… but that was most of what I read in 2006.

I mostly read when I’m traveling (actually the audiobook binge was when I did 2 road trips within a couple months), or when I’m at the gym. It’s funny because I was super busy & stressed last fall & I see a big hole in my reading there because I wasn’t going to the gym as much. Anyway… listing this out is fairly revealing to who I am. I like light-hearted reads, but I also am a total geek, and am someone always striving to better myself in my life and in my career. That about sums it up, right?

UPDATED 3/5/07: In effort to keep up my book list, I am going to keep adding to this post. I’ve now read:

  • The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke
  • Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit
  • The Tender Bar: A Memoir – favorite book of 2006!
  • A TON of graphic novels/comics, thanks to my friend Kevin who lent them to me.
  • King Dork – such a FUN read!
  • The Life of Pi - didn’t like this
  • The Bean Trees – really enjoyed this
  • History of Love – Going to start tracking how long it takes me to read each book & this one I started 3/5/07 & finished 4/4/07. Exactly a month! Probably a fairly common pace for me, but we’ll see as I start tracking them more.
  • A Long Way Down – started 4/6/07 & finished 4/19/07 – wow, that was fast! You can tell I have been going to the gym regularly. ha.
  • This Book Will Save Your Life – started 4/20/07 & finished 5/12 on VK in Maui
  • Currently in book limbo… I tried to start Son of the Circus, but couldn’t get into it. I’ll keep ya posted!
  • Middlesex – started 6/15/07 & finished 8/25/07. This one took me awhile, as I have to admit I didn’t really like the first 1/2 of it all that much. The book finally got interesting for me around page 350 or so, thankfully & the final quarter of it made it worth reading.
  • The 4-Hour Workweek…gah, I have to keep updating this later, gotta run! :)

awesome, aims! yes… I think everyone should read that book, even if it means you have to read between the lines of some of the more spiritual mumbo jumbo that not everyone can get into. it’s very good wisdom to live by. I think about the being honest with myself & others one a lot.

I’m very, very happy to see Christopher Moore on there. That guy is the funniest writer alive, I think…

this makes me really really really miss when i had time to read grownup books. it also makes me really really really cross my fingers for my potential new job, that is both teen and adult.

Oh, The Four Agreements! That book changed me for the better. I still have them written down where I can see them everyday.
